Structural Self Jigging Adhesives

Structural or engineering adhesives provide high strength, shock and impact resisting joints equivalent to either welding or mechanical fastenings. They perform a load bearing function and are ideal for critical applications found especially in the aerospace and automotive industries.

 

3MV Jet-Weld™ Thermoset Adhesive System

For unique high strength and application versatility. Jet-Weld adhesive offers bond strengths and environmental performance similar to many two component structural adhesives without the need to jig or clamp for long periods. Simple alignment by hand is usually all that is required. To achieve thin bond lines, it may be beneficial to use simple compression jigs in combination with low viscosity formulation. Jet-Weld adhesives give enough time to position or slide the two components together, then set to handling strength seconds after compression. Full strength will then build up over a period of approximately 20 minutes.

For improved productivity the optional 3M Jet-Weld adhesive pre-heater maintains four 310ml cartridges ready for instant use. High volume production quantities are also available in a choice of larger containers to suit your requirements.

Jet-Weld adhesive can be used for a wide range of applications involving many common materials found in the furniture, transport and sign and display industries. Wood, glass, metals, leather fabrics, ceramics, plastics. plasticised PVC (but not Polyolefin) are typical of materials that have been used successfully.

Two-component structural adhesives

The EPX system is one of the simplest methods currently available for dispensing two component adhesives.

It consists of 'Duo-Pak' cartridges, mixing nozzles and an applicator gun. The EPX system eradicates the complications of measuring and mixing adhesives with hardeners accurately critical to achieving perfect performance.

By simply fixing the nozzle onto the cartridge and slipping it into the applicator, the EPX system is ready for use in seconds.
